Welcome to CBIF!

The Computational Biology and Informatics Facility provides access to computational resources, including software, hardware, and data, to serve the needs of educators, scientists, policy makers, and managers.....

The CBIF Vision

The Computational Biology and Informatics Facility (CBIF) envisions that scientific information and computational resources will be readily available to support education, research, decision-making, management, and policy. Scientific research is expedited when data is available in forms that aid thoughtful analysis. Policy and management decisions are wiser when informed by broadly and carefully reviewed models. Education of our students and of the public is most effective when augmented with case studies involving primary scientific research. To aid this vision, CBIF seeks to provide the resources required to support these activities.

The CBIF Mission

The overall mission of the Computational Biology and Informatics Facility (CBIF) is to provide scientifically rigorous information, data, and models in suppor of educators, researchers, policy-makers, managers, and the public. Its aim is to support a diverse constituency by making information both readily accessible and directly useable for solving practical problems. Major components of the CBIF mission include supporting the following:

  • basic and applied biomedical research with special emphasis on the needs of New Mexico,
  • basic and applied scientific research needed to characterize and understand the natural resources of New Mexico,
  • educational outreach activities to enhance the role of science in the New Mexico curriculum, and the New Mexico INBRE Program.
  • informed development and effective implementation of policy within New Mexico.

The CBIF Resources

This web site provides access to a variety of information and resources provided by CBIF. This includes summaries of the diversity of software resources available, our current suite of hardware resources, and guides and tutorials to ease the use of these resources. CBIF also maintains a series of email lists for our own use and to aid other projects and organizations. Further details on all of these areas is accessible through the navigation tabs at the top of the page.

All of these resources are fully available to anyone. If you are interested in obtaining an account on the CBIF systems, for example to acccess our hardware for running programs of interest, please submit a request.

If you wish to suggest improvements to the site or to the range of services or software available through CBIF, please contact us directly.

Partners

Organizing the software and hardware resources made available through CBIF has been possible because of funding from the National Institutes of Health as part of the New Mexico INBRE project. This effort has been supported by NIH Grant Number RR-16480 of the INBRE Program from the National Center for Research Resources.
